The American Gem Society (AGS) has introduced “Only My Diamond,” an improvement on its AGS Diamond Quality report. This tool enables diamond suppliers and retailers to show a stone’s specifications in an interactive electronic format.
The novel platform allows customers to understand their stones with a detailed set of visuals and in-depth descriptions. It includes a PDF file that describes the stone’s specifications, as well as videos, images and graphs. Most notably, it includes an Angular Spectrum Evaluation Tool image, which explains to consumers how light reflects from their stones.
According to Jason Quick, the director of AGS Laboratories, the diamond industry needs services like this one. With its ability to inform customers in an interactive, engaging and detailed manner, it ensures better consumer protection—something for which all members of the industry should strive.
