As of last week, Barneys New York is the latest luxury retailer to implement shoppable content on its Instagram account.
The department store chain’s followers are now enabled to shop featured goods thanks to Like2Buy. This program allows Instagram content to become e-commerce enabled through the placement of a special link in the brand or retailer’s profile; by following the link, customers are brought to a gallery of images that display products available for purchase.
To promote these new capabilities, Barneys partnered with various designers, including jewellers Jennifer Meyer and Jennifer Fisher. Each of these artists supported the new Like2Buy site on their own accounts, encouraging their own followers to try out the new service. CJ
