The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has donated more than 1,000 items and $1,000 in cash to two local communities near its headquarters in Carlsbad, California.

The recipients of this year’s holiday drive and donations were It’s All About the Kids, a nonprofit foundation that supports children’s charities, and Dress for Success San Diego, which provides employment resources for women.

“Thank you to the wonderful women and men of GIA for their amazing generosity,” says Angela Brannon-Baptiste, co-founder and president of the board for It’s All About the Kids. “With their help, we are able to surpass our goal of making the holidays bright for over 1,600 children this year.”

Adds Sylvia Evans-McKinney, founder and executive director of Dress for Success San Diego, “We are honored to be chosen as one of the beneficiaries of GIA’s annual Holiday Gift Drive. These donations will brighten the holiday season and provide a confidence boost to our clients as they enter the workforce.”

The organization’s New York campus held a similar drive for Toys for Tots, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s program that provides gifts to children in need, as well as New York Cares’ annual coat drive. CJ
