The 2016 Rio Olympics are in full swing—and Saskatchewan-based jewellery company Hillberg & Berk is loving every second of it. With their earrings sparkling proudly from the ears of the Canadian Olympic Team, the brand has once again managed to make itself known on the global stage.
Last month, the company announced the launch of its Canadian Olympic Team Sparkle Ball Earrings as part of its licensing partnership with the group. Each athlete on the Canadian team was gifted a pair of these studs upon their arrival in Rio, and have been seen sporting them throughout the first week of the games.
“This partnership came from our desire and passion to support Canadian athletes,” said Rachel Mielke, CEO and Founder of the company, in a release. “As a Canadian grown and operated business, standing behind athletes in our own communities means so much.”
Mielke told CBC that this step is a natural progression for the company’s collaborations and marketing strategy. A couple of years ago, Hillberg and Berk became a sponsor for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
“[This is] a little bit of a bigger stage, it’s all of Canada,” she said Mielke.
The red studs are hand set with Swarovski crystals and retail for CAD $80. This month, they are available in Hillberg & Berk stores in Regina, Saskatoon and Edmonton and online at hillbergandberk.com.
