There’s still a lot of unknowns related to what our new normal will be. And for me, that means continuing to be active during this challenging time.  Here’s what being active means to me.

We have to work harder than we ever have and adapt to a different way of doing business.  For me, being a goldsmith and CAD designer/model maker and having the necessary equipment on site has been extremely beneficial.  After laying off 10 staff over 5 weeks ago I simply had to come up with a plan and dive in.

Initially, I was scattered, changing my message (website, signage, phone message, SM etc.) almost daily.  What could I offer?  How could I continue doing business without customer contact?…without staff?

I am focusing on what I can do and not what I can’t.  Virtual Design Consultations and Custom orders, Online Sales and Repair Drop-offs and Pick-ups.  There have been many roadblocks along the way but also a lot of support from my entire team remotely.

We have been fortunate to get approvals on several custom orders which began virtually and since we closed the store to regular business.  We take in a handful of repairs each day and the volume of online sales is increasing each week.

The increase in business levels has allowed me to hire back some staff both remotely as well as in-store practicing strict social distancing.

My hope is that all this hard work will keep the momentum we’ve built over the last 28 years going and when the new normal arrives we will be in a good position for continued success.
