This month, Jewelers Mutual Insurance introduced an updated version of JM University, their innovative online resource for safety and security training for jewellers.

The new program uses Litmos, a more user-friendly learning management system. The first available courses are “Danger on the Road” and “Selling with Security,” with more loss prevention training topics planned for release in the near future.

“Our first priority in creating the new JM University platform was to continue providing our members and their associates with easy access to ‘Danger on the Road’ and ‘Selling with Security,’” says Mark Cumicek, director of loss prevention at Jewelers Mutual. “These two courses are time-tested with important tips to help keep jewellers safe, and now they’re even easier to access and share with a jewellery business’ entire staff.”

The reconfigured programs are also intended to be much more accurate in monitoring staff training. Jewellers and store managers will now be able to check the progress of their staff in different areas of training, as well as evaluate and address any areas of concern.

“Even the most experienced sales professional can use a refresher on selling jewellery and traveling with safety and security in mind,” said Cumicek. “All it takes is one mistake, one moment of vulnerability, for criminals to strike. We want our members to be as well-informed as possible, and the new JM University is a great tool to test your security knowledge and skills.”

Access to JM University is offered exclusively to Jewelers Mutual policyholders as part of their extensive loss prevention resources. To sign up, members may visit JewelersMutual.com/JM-University. CJ
