Carl Fabergé, recognized as a world-renowed jeweller who has served clients that included the Imperial family of Russia, is the creator of the famous Fabergé eggs. Now four out of the five imperial Easter eggs will be displayed in Montreal at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

The pieces from the exhibition belonged to Lillian Thomas Pratt, wife of a General Motors executive who passed away in 1947 and her collection donated to the museum. Pratt had collected many of Fabergé’s creations scattered across Western art markets after the Russian Revolution.

The eggs portray the glamour and history behind imperial Russia, and what jewellery icon Carl Fabergé was capable of. The exhibition Fabulous Fabergé: Jeweller to the Czars displaying over 240 of his creations will run from June 14 to October 5. CJ
