Swatch Group has announced their plans to focus on fitness and add smart health-oriented features to Swatch Touch that is coming out next year. As a brand that hasn’t gone in a smartwatch direction before, the new project marks a milestone for Swatch Group.
Swatch Group spokeswoman Beatrice Howald told JCK Online that the new timepiece, while remaining Swatch watch qualities, will also feature fitness tools for an extra touch. According to Reuters, Swatch Group CEO Nick Hayek has heard from big tech companies that want to collaborate on a smartwatch project and have reached out to the brand.
“I don’t rule out that we are or could be collaborating in some areas,” Hayek told Reuters. “But we can also do many things on our own.” CJ
