Oris has given the redesigned Artix GT Chronograph a countdown indicator in a vertical aperture, which the brand calls a “memorable complication with real-world functionality.”
This adjustment was crafted as a way to uniquely capture the spirit of motor sport in a watch. The indicator appears on the subdial at 9 o’clock and works in the same way as the lights on the start-line gantry at Formula 1 races. It is made up of five white squares, which begin to fill with red every 15 seconds—under the dial is a disc painted with a series of staggered red columns, which move into the aperture as the disc rotates. The new Artix GT Chronograph also features 12-hour chronograph, tachymeter and date functions, which are powered by an automatic Swiss Made movement.
Aesthetically, the model’s subdials are inspired by the speed and rev counters on a sports car dashboard, while the new case has been redesigned to look “sportier.”
The watch will be available starting in August, and is priced at approximately $4,300 CAD ($3,200 CHF).
