Because of “high demand,” TAG Heuer will discontinue the sale of its Connected smartwatch online. Instead, the company will direct its consumers to retail locations to purchase the new model.

The Connected is TAG’s first smartwatch model. Acting as the Swiss watchmaker’s answer to the Apple Watch, the $1,500, 46 mm timepiece is modeled after the brand’s classic Carrera model and was developed in partnership with Google and Intel.

Last week, CEO Jean-Claude Biver noted that online sales would remain suspended until May or June to give priority to physical stores selling the smartwatch. He added that to keep up with demand, TAG will increase production of the Connected from 1,200 to 2,000 units a week.

Biver also suggested that in the future, TAG could develop a model made in gold and set with diamonds. CJ
