For most enthusiasts, the allure of a mechanical watch lies in the perfection of its form. From numerals and hour markers to hands, displays and virtually every component – the perfect balance of aesthetics and performance captivates enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike. This harmonious appearance is the result of precisely calculated proportions that harmonize in tiny fractions. While mechanical watches used to feature generous cases exceeding 40mm in diameter, in recent years watch design has been trending towards smaller case sizes.

The latest example of the trend towards smaller case sizes in high-end manufactured watches is Zenith’s Defy Skyline, which is 36mm in diameter. The first is the same metallic dark blue as the regular 41mm version, while the other two come in muted pink and green hues. They have a polished and satin-finished metal base, and the light shines from a five-pointed zenith star applied at the top of the dial. Composed of sculpted four-pointed stars, the geometric pattern represents a modern reinterpretation of Zenith’s “double Z” logo from the 1960s.

The mid-sized Defy Skyline retains the faceted stainless steel case and dodecagonal bezel of the larger models, available with or without brilliant-cut white diamonds. It is powered by the Zenith Elite 685, a high-performance automatic movement with a power reserve of 50 hours.
