The International Gemological Institute (IGI) has announced that Tehmasp Printer, managing director of IGI-India, has been elected to the Responsible Jewellery Council’s (RJC) Standards Committee. Printer will serve a three year tenure, during which he will represent the service industry forum.
The RJC Standards Committee is comprised of 28 members, 14 of which are industry representatives. The other 14 members represent interested parties—including NGOs, auditors and other standards-setting organizations—to help support the issues being addressed by RJCStandards.
The Committee oversees the bringing of jewellery supply chains from mine to retail, human rights, labour rights, artisanal mining, responsible sourcing, community development, biodiversity and product disclosure expertise.
“Appointment to the Standards Committee by such an esteemed industry organization is a great honor,” says Printer. “I look forward to leveraging IGI’s insight and collaborating with other sector leaders to work to maintain and advance the high standards set for our industry.”
