Silvercorp refreshes finance leadership as CFO Derek Liu retires

Silvercorp Metals Inc., a key Canadian producer of silver and other metals, has announced a planned shift in its senior finance team that matters for anyone watching bullion-backed balance sheets.

Effective 10 November 2025, long-time Chief Financial Officer Derek Liu has retired from his role after a decade of service. He will continue to support the Company during a transition period in a consulting capacity. Silvercorp credits Liu with long-standing dedication and significant contributions to the Company’s growth and financial strategy.

Stepping into the role of Interim Chief Financial Officer is Winnie Wang, effective immediately. Wang joined Silvercorp in 2024 and most recently served as CFO of the Company’s China operations. She brings more than 15 years of experience in corporate finance, accounting and financial reporting, treasury planning, and internal controls. Her background includes early career work with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, followed by senior leadership roles at multinational companies and a tenure as Head of Finance and CFO for Asurion China. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Shanghai International Studies University, a Master of Management from the University of International Business and Economics, and a CPA designation from CPA Australia.

Silvercorp has also appointed Lei Wu as Corporate Controller, with responsibilities spanning financial reporting, financial planning, finance operations, project management, and treasury functions. Wu brings over 14 years of progressive accounting and finance experience in the mining sector, having recently served as Finance Controller at New Gold Inc.’s Rainy River Mine from 2021 to 2025. He holds a BBA (Honours) from Simon Fraser University and an MBA from the University of Southern California, along with CPA, CFA, and PMP designations.

For bullion-focused jewellers and wholesalers, stable and sophisticated financial governance at upstream producers is an important signal for long-term supply, capital allocation, and risk management. Silvercorp’s latest appointments highlight a commitment to internal talent development and strong financial oversight as the Company continues to execute on its strategic objectives in the global precious metals market.
