Montreal-based jewellery brand Ecksand has opened a new boutique in downtown Montreal. Looking to expand their brand’s reach, Ecksand has also launched a pop-up shop in Toronto.
The new boutique, located in Montreal’s jewellery district at 632 Rue Cathcart, has 1,700 square feet of retail space. The historic space has been renovated to showcase Ecksand’s collections of diamond and precious gemstone engagement rings, wedding bands and other fine jewellery, which is a speciality of the brand.
“Ecksand truly redefines the standards for fine jewellery,” Erica Bianchini co-founder and creative director for Ecksand tells Retailer-insider. “We strive to make the world a better place by supporting honest, ethical and environmentally-responsible business practices.”
Ecksand’s creative director, Erica Bianchini, created the company 10 years ago when she witnessed an industry that was “saturated with patriarchal monotony, outdated style and uneducated retailers.” To the trained eye, all styles seemed commercial, and antiquated jewellers were unable to explain where their stones came from, or how a jewel was assembled.
As per the brand, the creation of Ecksand was a response to this irrepressible frustration regarding traditional jewellers’ inability to account for the basic details of their pieces. She believed that clients deserved to fully understand the jewellery they decided to bring home, something that she, as a client, had felt was not the case.
With the new Montreal location, Bianchini says, “We are able to convey more of the brand experience in a bigger footprint, and easier to access for clients.”
Ecksand gained a huge bump in promotion when the HRH Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, wore their stackable rings on numerous occasions.
The brand is also known for its sustainability. The brand is not only committed to creating beautiful designs but they also support ethical and environmentally responsible business practices. They also use 100% recycled gold, which reduces overall environmental impact. They also use natural, untreated gems.
Ecksand’s Toronto pop-up, meanwhile, is located in Radford Studio at Yorkville Village and is open from December 15 to 22.
