Ontario is no longer the province lagging behind as reports from the Bloomberg Nanos Canadian Confidence Index show that consumer confidence in the province has been the highest since 2009. This is due to increasing demand from the U.S., especially for manufactured goods such as cars. Canadian automobile production mostly takes place in Ontario.

Confidence gap between Ontario and the three western Prairies provinces have dropped to its lowest since January, according to the report. The difference is now less than one point compared to the usual give point difference. As such, the Nanos index rose from 58.8 to 59.3 in a period that ended September 19.

The Nanos index has weekly polls with people over the phone, amounting to 1,000 people in total with an average of 250 per a four-week period. CJ
