A New Chapter: Reflecting on Ari Epstein’s Decade of Leadership at AWDC
After more than ten years at the helm of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), Ari Epstein is stepping down from his role as CEO. The news was announced by AWDC President Isidore Mörsel on April 11, 2024, with Epstein’s departure set for Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Mörsel commended Epstein’s visionary leadership and significant impact on both AWDC and the wider diamond industry.
During Epstein’s tenure, AWDC saw unprecedented levels of growth, innovation, and global influence, solidifying its status as a pivotal player in the international diamond market. Epstein assumed the CEO position in January 2011, after serving as the deputy CEO for two years and as the director of the centre’s Diamond Office prior to that.
Mörsel praised Epstein for his progressive approach and his role in enhancing the industry’s transparency and excellence. Under his guidance, AWDC navigated the global market’s challenges and set new standards of success. Mörsel assured that AWDC will continue to build on Epstein’s legacy, pushing the boundaries of innovation and commitment to sustainability in the diamond industry.
The AWDC serves as the principal coordinating body and global ambassador for the Antwerp diamond sector. According to AWDC, Antwerp plays a crucial role in the diamond industry, with 84% of all rough diamonds and 50% of all polished diamonds passing through the city annually.
