Macy’s has announced the appointment of Barbie Cameron as its new Chief Stores Officer, effective 16 February. Having served as Senior Vice President and Regional Director of Stores, East Region, Barbie has also been interim Chief Stores Officer since August. She will report to Adrian Mitchell, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Macy’s, Inc.
Leading the Future of Macy’s Stores
In her new role, Barbie will oversee store operations across all Macy’s locations, from flagship stores to small-format shops, as well as its call centre operations. She will play a key role in advancing Macy’s Bold New Chapter strategy, a three-year plan focused on modernisation, customer experience, and sustainable growth. Her leadership will help shape the future of in-store shopping, ensuring that Macy’s remains a top destination for customers and a dynamic workplace for employees.
“Barbie is an experienced retailer and has built a strong track record during her 37-year career at Macy’s,” said Adrian Mitchell. “I am confident that her deep understanding of our customer will continue to drive the Bold New Chapter strategy forward by improving in-store experiences and modernizing Macy’s for today’s consumer. I look forward to continuing to work closely with Barbie and our talented team of store leaders and colleagues.”
A Career Built on Leadership and Innovation
Barbie began her career at Macy’s as a sales manager, quickly moving up the ranks to store manager. Over the years, she has held several key leadership roles, including positions in merchandising execution and buying. In 2020, she was appointed Senior Vice President and Regional Director of Stores, East Region, where she successfully navigated the challenges of an ever-changing retail landscape.
Her ability to drive business growth and develop talent has been instrumental in Macy’s ongoing success. Now, as Chief Stores Officer, she is set to lead the retailer into a new era of innovation and customer-centric retailing.
