CGA’s First Ever Jewellery Design Contest
The Canadian Gemmological Association (CGA) have announce that they are holding the First Annual Emerging Artist Jewellery Design Competition. Designers from across Canada are invited to submit their creations for a chance to win cash prizes and exposure to Canadian Jewellery houses.
“This is very exciting for the CGA because we will be able to showcase ingenious and innovative design students at our upcoming 60th Anniversary celebration later this year,” said Donna Hawrelko, CGA President
The Canada-wide competition submission deadline is June 30th, 2018, midnight MST. All designers currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and new graduates from 2017 and 2018 are welcome to participate.
Entries will be judged by a panel of experts and will be based on criteria such as wear ability, workmanship and innovation. Full contest details can be found on the CGA website: www.canadiangemmological.com
“The jewellery industry is big business in Canada, over $3 billion and growing, so we are eager to showcase Canadian students and their designs in this exciting new format. We cannot wait to see what Canadian designers have to show,” said Hawrelko. “This is just one of many things the CGA has planned throughout the year to celebrate our Diamond Anniversary.” Jewellery students in Canada will compete for First Place (CA$1000), Second Place (CA$500) and Third Place (CA$250), in addition to international recognition and exposure.
