OMEGA and Privateer: Two pioneers, one shared vision for the future of technology and sustainability. To celebrate their ongoing partnership, OMEGA welcomed Silicon Valley legend Steve Wozniak and tech innovator Alex Fielding, co-founders of Privateer, to its headquarters in Bienne, Switzerland. The visit marked a significant moment in their collaboration, offering the Privateer founders a behind-the-scenes look at OMEGA’s state-of-the-art watchmaking facility and its rich space heritage.
During the tour, Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA, expressed excitement about hosting the duo, highlighting the shared values of innovation and sustainability. These ideals are not only foundational to OMEGA’s iconic timepieces—such as the legendary Speedmaster, worn on every Moon landing—but also to Privateer’s groundbreaking mission to ensure the long-term sustainability of space.
Privateer, launched in 2022, focuses on addressing the growing issue of space debris through real-time data infrastructure, aiming to safeguard orbital highways for the benefit of Earth’s future. Their commitment resonates deeply with OMEGA’s decades-long involvement in space exploration, dating back to 1962.
Reflecting on the experience, Steve Wozniak noted, “Touring the OMEGA factory for the first time has been amazing. It’s incredible to see the attention to detail and the dedication to excellence.” Meanwhile, Alex Fielding praised OMEGA as a true pioneer, stating, “What we do at Privateer looks quite different from watchmaking, but we both value the balance between ingenuity and craftsmanship in our work.”
