Health Canada is going forward with the motion of restricting lead and madmium levels used in children’s jewellery. The proposal also seeks to limit lead in kids’ consumer products and childcare. The proposed limit for jewellery is 90mg/kg of lead and 130mg/kg of cadmium for any piece of children’s jewellery small enough to be swallowed by a child.
The limit on lead content in consumer products is promosed to be a 90mg/kg for any products used for play and learning for children aged between three and 12, childcare articles, and children’s clothing and accessories for under age 14. CJ
