The AJA Ontario Board was elated to host one of its most unforgettable galas to date on October 5, 2024, at Toronto’s prestigious Hallcrown Place. This wasn’t just any event; it was a night brimming with honour, celebration, and heartfelt moments as the global AJA community came together to pay tribute to none other than co-founder Pierre Akkelian, a true visionary in the jewellery world.

The night sparkled with the presence of distinguished guests, including AJA International President Mrs. Ivette Nersesyan-Stephanopoulos and Olivier Felicio, editor of Canadian Jeweller Magazine. Joining them were influential figures from the Canadian Jewellers Association, all there to witness this milestone occasion. Their participation added an undeniable prestige to the evening, elevating the atmosphere into one of true reverence and excitement.
One of the night’s most emotional highlights was the introduction of the Natalie Dargounian-Derian Legacy Award, a newly established honour that recognizes exemplary dedication and leadership in the jewellery industry by a female each year. The inaugural award went to none other than Anousch Derian-Vartanian, whose contributions have left an undeniable mark on the industry. Her achievements and tireless commitment were met with resounding applause, as the audience stood in admiration of her and her incredible journey.
With 125 AJA Ontario members, their families, and special guests in attendance, the night was nothing short of magical. It was an evening filled with shared pride, unforgettable memories and an undeniable sense of community. From the touching tributes to the celebration of legacies, the gala was an absolute triumph—an evening that will be cherished for many years to come.
