Richemont, parent company of Cartier, has reported that CEO Stanislas de Quercize has resigned for “personal reasons.” The change will take place effective immediately, although Quercize will remain a Richemont group executive, taking on the role of chairman of Richemont France.
Cyrille Vigneron, the current president of LVMH Japan, will replace Quercize as of January 1, 2016. Vigneron, previously worked with Richemont from 1988-2013, principally with Cartier.
The formal company announcement followed reports that the 25-year Richemont group veteran had been off work due to health problems. Richemont Chairman Johann Rupert notes that the company “deeply regrets” that Quercize has decided to stand down, “but [they] must accept his decision.”
Richemont named Quercize CEO of Cartier in March 2012. Previously, he held the position of CEO at Van Cleef & Arpels, and worked with a number of other Richemont brands, even serving as president of Cartier in the U.S. for a time. CJ
