Regina-based jeweller Hillberg & Berk has announced a two-year partnership with the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL). Through this initiative, Hillberg & Berk will sponsor CWHL Live broadcasts, helping the league to connect with its wider community of fans.
The CWHL five-team league is made up of mothers, wives, career women and women continuing their education. Their love for the game is evident, a passion to which Hillberg & Berk relates profoundly. Following a hugely successful partnership with Olympic Ice Dancer Tessa Virtue, CEO Rachel Mielke and the Hillberg & Berk team identified an opportunity to help in addressing the injustices women in sport face.
“I’m so thrilled that we’re partnering with such a fantastic team of women,” says Mielke. “It’s such a joy to see our vision and passion on women’s empowerment come to life through the ladies on the CHWL team. Many of the women on the team are Olympic Gold Medalists and no one is talking about them – we are looking forward to raising the profile of the team through our partnership to highlight the amazing sportswomen they are.”
To celebrate the partnership, Hillberg & Berk gifted all 125 CWHL players and team staff with their very own CWHL Sparkle Balls. They also received an additional pair to gift to deserving women they encounter in their day-to-day lives as a Random Act of Sparkle this festive season.
Mielke was recently named an Entrepreneurial Winning Woman in the 2015 Ernst & Young LLP’s North American Entrepreneurial Winning Women program. Hillberg & Berk differentiates itself through its unique and high quality product, exceptional shopping experience and its efforts to empower women through mentorship & philanthropy.
