The retail scene in Calgary is getting a luxury retail shakeup, thanks to CF Chinook Centre’s luxury retailer additions.
Downtown Calgary, which for years has been the go-to place for high-end shoppers, is now competing with the suburban CF Chinook Centre for shoppers as Louis Vuitton relocates into the mall, which also houses Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Prior to this, the place to get these luxury goods was through the Holt Renfrew downtown location.
Now, according to Retailer Insider news, CF Chinook Centre stands to gain wealthy shoppers with the opening of its 4,450 square foot Louis Vuitton boutique, which carries a more expansive offering than the downtown Calgary Holt Renfrew concession.
The CF Chinook Centre also has other upscale stores including Tiffany & Co., Harry Rosen, Tesla, and Canada Goose, as well as prestige retailers such as Le Creuset
Mackage is also said to have secured a space in the mall as well as upscale skincare brand Aesop. Popular vegan accessory brand Matt & Nat will also open in the mall in early 2019.
Other stores located in the CF Chinook Centre that offer up luxury goods are Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue, which opened in the mall on September 2014 and February 2018, respectively.
Industry insiders are seeing this as a split between the downtown core shopping with those in the suburbs with the Chinook Centre drawing shoppers away from downtown businesses.
