For the second time in two weeks, a jewellery store at Fairview Park Mall in Kitchener has been allegedly robbed by a group of armed suspects.

The Waterloo Regional Police reported the incident on social media around 9:00 PM on Monday night, stating that a robbery had occurred at the mall.

Approximately half an hour later, an update from the police confirmed that four male suspects, armed with hammers, had robbed the store. These suspects fled to a nearby dark sedan, where a fifth suspect was waiting as the getaway driver.

Police mentioned that one person sustained a minor physical injury during the robbery.

Just nine days earlier, a similar robbery took place at the same mall on the Saturday of the Victoria Day long weekend. In that incident, four suspects armed with hammers and a gun robbed a jewellery store, smashing display cases, stealing merchandise, and spraying people with a noxious substance. Two employees were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the mall had to be evacuated and closed for the rest of the day.

It is currently unknown if the two robberies targeted the same store or were committed by the same suspects. Jewellery stores at Fairview Park Mall have experienced multiple robberies in recent months.

The mall has also been the site of other robberies this year, including one violent incident involving several youths who were arrested.

Anyone with information about the incidents is urged to call the police at 519-570-9777, extension 8255, or to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or online at Waterloo Crime Stoppers.
