Kate Moss is the pinnacle of modern style and one of the biggest supermodels in the world. She’s ruled the runway for countless designers, been the face of thousands of brands and continues to inspire collections to this day with her undone glamour and laidback luxe charm. But now, she embarks on a new journey as she partners with Parisian jewellery designer Valerie Messika on her very first high jewellery collection.

‘We met initially in Paris and got on very well. After discussing our joint love of jewellery, we decided to collaborate on a collection together,’ said Moss on how the budding design duo originally met. Last year Moss was the face of their campaign but this year, she takes a much larger role as designer, ‘I brought my jewellery box to our first design meeting so she could see pieces that I love and to give her an understanding of my bohemian taste. We had several meetings in person and also virtual ones. Moodboards were sent back and forth between us.’

The collection itself is quintessential Moss and is inspired by her own personal collection of vintage pieces. It’s ‘Bohemian, timeless, eclectic,’ as she herself describes it and ‘Very Talitha Getty,’ with tassles, layers, and, of course, tons of diamonds. With a decadent vintage feel throughout the suites, the intricate pieces hark back to the ethereal whimsy of the Seventies with touches of decadent glamour from the Twenties. ‘Women want to wear diamonds with a modern twist, and feel comfortable,’ Moss explains.

The world of high jewellery can be very exclusive with the majority of designers who offer it being heritage brands but this didn’t scare Moss who’s known globally as a daring tastemaker, ‘I don’t follow trends. I change it up a lot, depending on the season,’ Moss explains, ‘I don’t like rules; I like breaking rules. There weren’t any limitations set by the design team at Messika which I loved, I had the freedom to create something I really love.’

The campaign is beautiful with no one better to model her own collection than herself. Shot by renowned photographer Chris Colls, Moss brings her A-game to a series of images set in futuristic cityscapes as she dresses both up and down pieces from the collection, proving its versatility.

It’s only her debut as a high jewellery designer, and we can’t wait to see more.
