38th edition of CJG Buying Show comes to a close

The 38th edition of the Canadian Jewellery Group Annual General Meeting and Buying Show has come to a close this past weekend to rave reviews from members and retailers alike.

The three-day event included golf, the Annual General Meeting, roundtable discussions, the President’s Luau dinner, as well as a gala dinner and silent auction to wrap up the weekend.

Members were given the opportunity to sit in on a number of discussions that included topics like ‘The Importance of Insurance for Jewellers’ by David Sexton of Jewelers Mutual Insurance, ‘Succession Planning for Jewellers’ by Thomas Deans, and ‘6 Display Changes You can Make that will Improve your Sales’ by Larry Johnson.

One of the highlights was Ryan Holtz’ panel discussion on ‘Social Media for Jewellers’ during which he moderated an exciting and educational dialogue between retail expert and one of our columnists Todd Wasylyshyn, Mike Lawlor of Lawlor Jewellery in Stettler, AB, Naomi Selvaraja-Fossett of Lanka Jewels in Mission, BC, and Katie Taylor of Taylor’s Jewellers in Alliston, ON.

The event boasted a large turnout and members expressed being quite pleased with the amount of foot traffic and retailers they had a chance to reconnect with and meet for the first time at the show. CJ
