CGA announces first ever award
The Canadian Gemmological Association (CGA) has announced the first-ever Diamond Award celebrating those who have made significant contributions through the support of Canadian gemmological excellence.
“This award has been a long time in coming,” said Donna Hawrelko, President of the CGA. “And we are proud to be supporting this recognition of distinction in gemmology, not only in Canada but internationally. We want everyone to come to our conference on October 19-21 in Vancouver to help us celebrate the best and the brightest in the industry.”
The call for nominations has just begun this month and many qualified candidates are expected to be selected from around the world and particularly from within Canada. Nominations and full award details can be found on the CGA website: www.canadiangemmological.com/
The Diamond Award winner will expect to receive a cash prize of CA$2000 in addition to worldwide recognition at the CGA conference in October, 2018 in Vancouver, BC.
“Our 60 years of providing education and industry standards has been filled with excitement but this year we are seeing a lot of firsts,” said Hawrelko. “It is the first time we are awarding excellence in jewellery design and now we have this fantastic announcement which recognizes the brilliant minds in gemmology today.
Nominated individuals can be recognized for their work in business, education, research, exploration and mining, instrument development, or practical applications.
Announcement of the shortlist and final winner will be made closer to the CGA conference (October 19-21, 2018) in Vancouver, BC.
