Founder of Bullion Mart Inc. honoured as Entrepreneur of the Year 2018

From journalist to gold industrialist, Transformation Institute honouree and Bullion Mart founder has come a long way.

On June 15, Moniruz Zaman, founder of Bullion Mart Inc., was honoured with the prestigious Enterprise Award for 2018, in recognition of hiscontributions to the fields of business, journalism and philanthropy.

“It was a wonderful, humbling evening. It showed an appreciation for the kindness my company and I have shown to our clients,” said Zaman. “The credit really goes to those who have given me all their efforts and support, who believed in me, and created who I am today.”

The awards gala, organized by the Transformation Institute for Leadership & Innovation, honoured Zaman, as well as 11 other recipients, who not only made an immense contribution to their respective fields, but who are also examples for the present and future generations.

“I am excited and humbled to be listed amongst such incredible nominees,” Zaman said during his speech at the awards ceremony. He also added, “Their dedication to their respective crafts, and passion for their local communities is inspiring, and I only hope to add to their good work in the Canadian community.”

Zaman will also be featured in the world-class coffee table book titled, 150 Extraordinary Canadians: Our Leadership and Innovation Legacy,which was launched at the awards night. This will also be presented via television, a documentary film, interstitials and a multimedia presentation as a part of the Envision Canada initiative.

After immigrating to Canada in the early 2000s, Zaman made a name for himself in the Canadian business community as a passionate and hardworking family man. He is the founder and chief executive officer of Asian Pacific Group Limited, Asia Pacific International Inc., The Bullion Mart, and Silver Gold Express. For the past three decades, he has created global mines-to-market companies from the ground up. In addition to working directly with precious metals, he is only one of six authorized Royal Canadian Mint dealers in the province. Furthermore, he was the first Bangladeshi publisher to bring a Bengali newspaper to the international market, and also served as the president of the Canada-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce for many. many years. Beyond his professional accolades, he is an active member in his community, contributing to causes close to his heart such as education, accessible healthcare and youth engagement.

To conclude his speech that night, he left an inspiring message to the youth of Canada, and especially the budding entrepreneurs by saying, “The best way to predict your future, is to create it.”

The Transformation Institute holds the Annual Transformation Awards program every year. Since 2010, the program has identified and honoured role models who become mentors for the Crossover Mentorship Program, which includes the Phenomenal Women and the Men of Distinction initiatives and prepares mentors for youth and more. The event saw around 450 guests, and was witnessed with a red carpet reception, networking, dinner and entertainment, inspiring recipients, high-profile presenters and a classy ceremony with many VIPs.
