Press the pusher on the side of the Tinkler 1958 and the watch strikes the hours, then the quarter hours. Until this month, no store in Canada could play that sound for a client. Humbertown Jewellers changed that with its exclusive appointment. Every Angelus watch sold in Canada now goes through its Toronto showroom.

Where does Angelus come from?
The Stolz brothers founded Angelus in Le Locle. The firm built its name on chronographs, alarms and repeaters with movements of its own. Quartz ended that run around 1980, according to Classic Watch, and the name went unused for about 30 years.
A movement maker in the Swiss Jura brought it back around 2011. That manufacture also controls Arnold & Son, and Citizen of Japan holds most of its shares. LVMH bought a minority stake in November 2025, but the brands remain independent.
Then, last November, the Angelus Chronographe Télémètre took the chronograph prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.
What are the first two Angelus watches arriving in Canada?
The Tinkler 1958 brings back a little-known model from that year. The new version is 38 mm across and runs on the automatic calibre A600, with a 70 hour power reserve. Swiss prices are CHF 37,900 in steel and CHF 56,300 in yellow gold.

The second watch is a very different object. The Flying Tourbillon Skeleton Titanium, Orange Edition is a hand wound titanium piece, 42.5 mm wide, with a 60 hour reserve. Its dial is cut away, so the tourbillon turns in full view behind bright orange flanges. It lists at CHF 47,000 in Switzerland, and Humbertown gives Canadian prices on request.
Why did Angelus pick Humbertown Jewellers?
Humbertown has been in Toronto for more than 45 years. Ferit Tecimer founded it and still runs it with Managing Director Daniel Tecimer. The store also sells Patek Philippe, Cartier, Omega, Tudor, IWC, Panerai and Ulysse Nardin, and its own watchmakers service what it sells, according to SHARP.
Arnold & Son is the name that mattered most. Humbertown already carries it, and Pascal Béchu is chief executive of both Arnold & Son and Angelus. So he knew how the store handled a small Swiss house before he signed the Angelus agreement. Béchu has called Canada one of the most important markets for traditional watchmaking.
What do Angelus watches in Canada mean for watch retail?
Canada imported US$474.65 million in clocks and watches from Switzerland in 2024, according to UN Comtrade data. However, nobody publishes how much of that came from small series makers.
The production numbers matter more here. Angelus makes the orange tourbillon in 25 pieces worldwide and the Tinkler in 40, so Canada will only ever see a handful. Because supply is that small, each piece will most likely go to a client the store already knows.
For that reason, brands that work in these quantities choose their retailers carefully. They look for a good record with a related house, watchmakers on site and clients who already buy complications. Of those, the service bench is the one a store can build fastest, and our report on watch repairs for jewellers covers how. More watch business coverage is in Time Shiners.
Frequently asked questions
What is a quarter repeater?
A quarter repeater sounds the time on demand. Small hammers strike gongs inside the case, first for the hours and then for each quarter hour that has passed.
What is a flying tourbillon?
A tourbillon carries the escapement in a rotating cage to even out errors caused by gravity. A flying tourbillon attaches on one side only, with no bridge above it, so the whole cage stays visible.
Which Angelus collections exist today?
The current Angelus watches sold in Canada come from two lines: L.A.B., short for Legacy and Beyond, and La Fabrique.
Which historic Angelus watches are best known?
The Chronodato of 1942 paired a chronograph with a date display and became the brand’s best seller. The Datalarm of 1956 combined an alarm with a date.
How rare was the original Tinkler?
Only about 100 of the 1958 originals reached the market, because repeaters had fallen out of fashion by the late 1950s. The new edition runs to 25 steel and 15 gold pieces.
