After seeing an increase for four consecutive months, Canadian retail sales fell 0.5% this past September to $43.3 billion.
Six provinces across Canada reported a decrease in retail sales. The largest drop in dollar terms of 1.3 per cent came from Quebec, with new car dealers and clothing stores accounting for most of the decline. Sales went down by 1.1 per cent in Alebrta across all store types and in Ontario, sales decreased by 0.4 per cent for a second consecutive month after seeing a growth in the previous six months.
