GIA announces agenda for February’s Tucson fairs

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has released the fair schedules for its two February trade shows in Tucson, Arizona.

From February 1 to 7, the organization will offer on-site gem identification and country-of-origin services at the AGTA GemFair. GIA experts will also be available to answer questions on a wide range of topics, including those surrounding CAD/CAM technology.

Three fee-based classes will also be available from February 1 to 6. These courses, which require preregistration, will be comprised of a diamond-grading laboratory class, a session on identifying diamond treatment, and another seminar on gemstone treatment identification. Moreover, from February 2 to 7, the GIA will also exhibit “Striking Gold,” a collection of yellow gems.

Additionally, on February 5, it will offer a free seminar with the latest news from its research, as well as the GIA Alumni Association’s annual auction, dinner and dance party at the Marriott University Park Hotel.

Finally, the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show (TGMS) will bring an exhibition of blue gems and jewellery to correspond with the show’s “Shades of Blue: Minerals of the World” theme. The show, on from February 11 to 14, will also include a show of books that discuss the library’s recent digitization project.
