World Diamond Council’s annual general meeting will take place in Antwerp from October 28 to 30, hosted by the Antwerp World Diamond Center (AWDC). Members will discuss a number of topics relating to the Kimberley Process and what the WDC’s role is regarding the risks.
An all-day session on October 29 will be led by De Beers CEO Philippe Mellier. This year will also feature a brainstorming session for the first time, where members will discuss ethical, legal and financial obstacles relating to the Kimberley Process and rough diamond trading.
The members will also get to discuss the report by Financial Action Task Force that was released near the beginning of the year. Members will take note of what strategies the WDC needs to adopt, and analyze the results of a poll that they previously took regarding the aforementioned topics. CJ
