Ekati extension receives government approval for water usage

Dominion Diamond Corporation’s Jay project, an extension of its Ekati mine, has received government approval for a type-A water license.

 

This important regulatory measure will add an estimated decade to Ekati’s lifespan. According to Dominion chairman Jim Gowans, this approval is a “significant milestone for the Jay project,” acting as the “final major step in the permitting process at Jay.”

The type-A water license permits the mining company to use water under specified conditions.
