Finance Minister Joe Oliver is adding fashion and retail moguls to the board of advisors in his Economic Advisory Council. Oliver has chosen Dani Reiss of Canada Goose and Hudson’s Bay Company Vice Chairman Bonnie Brooks as his latest members for the council. Other members include newly added private equity company Penfund’s chairman John Bradlow, and eight members from the previous panel with Jim Flaherty, as well as seven more new members. Previous member Edward Rogers, deputy chairman of Rogers Communications Inc., is leaving as well as Bank of Montreal Chairman Robert Prichard.
Since Flaherty first brought together an economic advisory following the financial crisis in 2008, the council has continued its service of giving economic advice.
“As we return to balanced budgets in 2014, it is important we listen to Canada’s leading business and economic innovators,” Oliver said in a statement to the Globe and Mail. CJ
