The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has announced that industry veteran Dione Kenyon is the new chair of its board of governors. Kenyon succeeds John Green, president and CEO of jewellery chain Lux Bond & Green, who will remain part of the board.

Prior to this position, Kenyon acted as president and CEO of the Jewelers Board of Trade.

Additionally, Barbara Dutrow, a geology professor at Louisiana State University, and Stephen Kahler, senior vice president of global sales for Swarovski Gemstones, were introduced as new members of the board. Moreover, Glenn Nord, a former president of the GIA and a board member since 1983, was named governor emeritus.
