Retail giant Nordstrom has finally descended upon the Canadian market by opening its first international location in Calgary, Alberta, just this past September. The opening gala for the new 140,000-square-foot Nordstrom space was held at the Chinook Centre in support of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation and United Way of Calgary and Area. It raised $180,000 to benefit the mental health and well being of Calgary youth.
The opening night hosted 1,800 guests, who were treated to a first-hand experience of the new store while enjoying drinks, hors d’oeuvres and live entertainment in the two-level space. About 30 models showed off the season’s latest looks from fashion names like Missoni, Rag & Bone, Kate Spade and Tory Burch. Toronto-based recording artist Sean Jones was on hand to provide soulful live music and each guest received a floral bouquet from Willow and Whimsy upon leaving at the end of the night. CJ
