Jewellery and watch Maison de Grisogono has appointed Celine Assimon as chief executive officer.

Swiss brand De Grisogono has announced a new CEO.

The high jewellery and watch company has announced that Céline Assimon will succeed John Leitao, who started the position in May 2013.

“We would like to thank John for his five years with our company over which time he has helped us grow from a niche high jewellery house to an established player in the sector. The Board extends a warm welcome to Celine. With her exceptional business track record, broad experience of the jewellery market and global luxury brands, she is the ideal person to lead the company on the next stage of its journey to becoming a global luxury brand.” board chairman Elmar Wiederin said.

Assimon most recently served as the international high jewellery and exceptional pieces director at Piaget. Prior to that, she served as watches and fine jewellery director and then the worldwide head of high jewellery and high watchmaking sales at Louis Vuitton.

Assimon’s new mandate will be to develop the brand on an international scale while expanding its product offer to reach a wider clientele, the company says.

“There is something magical about joining de Grisogono, it is an extraordinary brand that I have admired for many years. I very much look forward to working with the talented team to develop the business, continuing the traditions of daring creativity and craftsmanship for which de Grisogono is known,” said Ms Assimon.

De Grisogono has been reorganizing its jewellery offering since disappointing sales forced the company to lay off 28 workers at its Swiss headquarters, as well as 10 workers in other locations, in May. At the time, the company said it intended to focus primarily on its more affordable fine-jewellery and watch brands, as well as broaden its daywear range.
